Football Completes Third Week of Spring Practice

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College football team was on the field on Friday afternoon to complete the third full week of spring practice. It was the ninth of fifteen scheduled practices for the Terriers, who will take the next week off for spring break.

During the full pads practice, the team continued to work with position groups on implementing the play book. The session wrapped up with the two-minute drill, which ended with an interception by Nick Morgan.

"I like what we are seeing out here," said head coach Shawn Watson. "We are a completely different football team and I am pleased with the progress we have made as a team. There is a lot of competition at many of the position groups, which is good to have. Defensively we have picked up right where we left off and at the end of the year I thought they were one of the better defenses in the Southern Conference. We couldn't have hoped to be at a better place three weeks into practice. The first practices we had to clean up a lot, but the last five practices you see all of the hard work paying off. The next two weeks will be big for us."

The spring practices have also been the first for new tight ends coach Pete Collins and new wide receivers coach Michaelee Harris. "Michaelee was a great receiver for me at Louisville and knows everything that we are trying to teach the guys. Pete has brought a lot to us and has a ton of experience in a few different offenses. He has added some new twists and helped us think outside the box."

The Terriers will be back on the field on Tuesday, April 9. The spring scrimmage is scheduled for Saturday, April 20.
