SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Wofford College football team was back on the field on Thursday morning as they continued to prepare for the 2023 season. They will have a second scrimmage on Friday, August 19, at 9:30 a.m. at Gibbs Stadium.
Overall, the team is returning a total of 14 starters from last season, five of which are on the offensive side of the ball. The Terriers will be in the second year of operating a pro spread offense.
"Anytime that you are in season two with some continuity you start to see things click faster," said tight ends coach
Dane Romero. "Our guys up front are starting to work more together and you are hearing more communication. Being in year two their comfort level has gone through the roof and you are seeing that on the film. We are realizing as well that we have really good rooms of wide receivers and tight ends that have the ability to make plays. Now that they are showing up on their spots on time they are showing the catch and run part of our offense. The best things about the running backs room is the competition piece and they are getting each other better every day. The challenge for us now as a total unit is matching the intensity of that group and the defense. We are not in the learning phase anymore we are in the execution phase and we are getting closer to the finish."
At quarterback,
Jimmy Weirick graduated after setting numerous passing records last season.
Bryce Corriston and
Cade Rice each saw limited snaps behind center and will be in the mix to earn the starting role. Senior

Ryan Ingram had 203 rushing yards and four touchdowns, while
David Legette and

Trey Baker,
Will Daniel,
Alec Holt,
Devin Mathews,
