Julie Arkell is Away Away at Welbeck
Away Away will see Julie’s beautiful mythical ‘creatures’ will fill a landscape of knitted ponds, paths and even shadows.
Each of these creatures are assembled through knit, stitch and papier-mâché.

Hide AdAlthough their faces are neutral, they are given unique characters through clothing which is often adorned with words or phrases.
Julie also made a life-size 5ft 5in papier mache model of herself for the opening of the exhibition this month.
Away Away was developed from a dream Julie had. She decided to think about the spaces surrounding her creations.
Influenced by mountains, lakes, hills, snowy landscapes and solitary trees, she creates imaginary landscapes for them, including their own knitted ponds.
