From Sky -
"10:14 Tom@Sky: Paul Gascoigne has told Real Radio he knew Moat years ago when Moat worked as a bouncer in Newcastle. The former footballer described him as a "gentleman" and said someone must have wound him up or done something.

10:15 Tom@Sky: Police claim Paul Gascoigne does not know Moat."

Just heard a bit a Gazza on sky to me sounded a pissed as a fart (normal then?)

I also liked this bit
Tom@Sky:
Reacting with shock to the news Gascoigne was in Rothbury, his agent Kenny Shepherd said: "He's doing what? I am sitting having an evening meal in Majorca. I'm speechless."

That's hilarious.

"From what I can see he shot himself. He lay down and shot himself. I think there was two, but there was certainly one shot."

You think he shot himself twice?

The Police said earlier if he was`nt caught by this Satuday , the £10k reward money was going be doubled to £20k in a Raoul over.

Gazza arriving, no wonder he shot himself, he's crazier than moat..... ive brought some chicken, a fishing rod. etc etc

This really saddens me for some reason.
It was obvious from the weord go that the guy would be killed in one way or another.
Yet again we are led to believe that the police have done everything in their power to peacefully resolve this situation but the guy (with mental health issues) is dead.
Not good. I bet the police are slapping each other on the back, bigging themselves uo with stories of bravado and bravery.

Looking at the BBC News picture filmstrip with morbid fascination, came across the picture with the two snipers:

HOW FAR??? Do they really expect to be able to hit such a small target at that range? Incredible (and disturbing) if so...

PS. is the first picture Simon King (Springwatch) doing his day job?

I did some digging and found this (OK I didn't try hard, it's from wiki):

The longest range recorded for a sniper kill currently stands at 2,475 m (2,707 yd) and was achieved by CoH Craig Harrison, a sniper from the Household Cavalry of the British Army. It was accomplished in an engagement in November 2009 in which two stationary Taliban machine gunners were killed south of Musa Qala in Helmand Province in Afghanistan with two consecutive shots by CoH Harrison using an Accuracy International L115A3 Long Range Rifle chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum.

or perhaps more amazingly...

...in one notable incident on April 3, 2003, Corporals Matt and Sam Hughes, a two-man sniper team of the Royal Marines, armed with L96 sniper rifles each killed targets at a range of about 860 metres (941 yd) with shots that, due to strong wind, had to be “fire[d] exactly 17 meters (56 ft) to the left of the target for the bullet to bend in the wind.

Cripes...

MUM who took kids to killer Raoul Moat’s funeral says: ‘It was better than Legoland’

she took 3 of her 8 children...

Teresa Bystram, a twisted fan of Moat, added the service in Newcastle upon Tyne made for "a nice day out for my kids". The mother called the gunman a "good role model". The single mother, who sports swastika and White Power tattoos, receives several hundred pounds a month in handouts to help her care for the five children who live with her. Taxpayers also fund the rent on their £350,000 house in comfortable Addlestone, Surrey.

she should be on WAN, I'm sure she would make a valuable contribution...

if she googles her name she may see this as with Sooty E d w a r d s.
