    Found at upper elevations from eastern Canada and the Lake States, south to New England and the southern Appalachians. Leaves are similar to B. papyrifera but with a cordate base. Twigs and fruit are similar to B. papyrifera. Bark is similar to B. papyrifera but salmon-white in color.
