Broderie Anglaise

According to that wise old owl Wikipedia, Broderie Anglaise is “a whitework needlework technique incorporating features of embroidery, cutwork and needle lace that arose in England in the 19th century.” In reality however, it is so much more.

In real life it can transform even the most serious of women into frolicking French girls who want nothing more than a quiet life in the country, a coup of happy chickens, and to lounge on a cool, green river bank with the man she loves, a cold bottle of wine & a baguette of crunchy French bread.

Ok, so I’m working on the man, the wine, the bread & the river bank… but the happy chickens? I’ve got that down, bebé.

My dress is a little bargain from MG. It sold out very quickly when I tweeted it last week, but they’ve promised to restock so there should be some more left today. Alternatively I’ve rounded up a whole host of French flavoured lovelies for you to peruse. Maybe one of these little numbers will bring out the mademoiselle in you… Don’t forget to use the arrows, mon petit chou.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a real hankering for dippy eggs & soldiers… *Disclaimer : These pictures were not actually taken in France, but right here in Angleterre. That’s right the sun shines here too sometimes & I hear that heatwave we had is set to make a comeback, buddy!
