In Colombia, four species of Triphora (Orchidaceae) are recognized. Two species (Triphora galeanoi and T. vichadaensis) are newly described. As circumscribed here, the two new species occur exclusively in Colombia apart from T. foldatsii, being known from Colombia and Venezuela, and T. gentianoides, ranging from the USA (Florida) in the north to Co...

Resumen Three new small-flowered Cyrtochilum species from Colombia and Peru are here described, illustrated and compared with similar species, and with one new taxonomic combination. The first species differs from all other Cyrtochilum species by the curved horn-like structures on the lip callus. The second species differs from its most similar re...

... f. (Orchidaceae: Cranichidinae) includes about 25 Neotropical species distributed in the Andean region, although, Aa paleacea (Kunth) Rchb. f. reaches to the mountains of Costa Rica (Trujillo and Vargas 2011;Szlachetko and Nowak 2014). ... (Coccuci 1954;Schinini et al. 2008;Martín and Scrocchi 2016). This genus is characterized by its elongated peduncle, with tubular and hyaline-diaphanous sheaths, generally greenish-white (rare black or orange) and non-resupinate flowers, dorsal sepals and petals free from column, cucullate lips with involute margin, disc with a pair of subglobose basal calli (Trujillo and Vargas 2011;Szlachetko and Nowak 2014). However, this genus have a low morphological variation and an unstable systematic status since they have been transferred to Altensteinia Kunth or Myrosmodes Rchb. ...

Myrosmodes noemiae (Orchidaceae), a new species from the Puna biome in the high northwestern Argentine Andes, is described and illustrated. This species is currently known from a single population; its habitat, a distribution map, and a key to distinguish it from other species of Myrosmodes growing in the Andean region are presented. In addition, we present an updated distribution of M. gymnandra, clarify the holotype of M. nubigena, and designate a lectotype for Altensteinia paludosa, the basionym of Myrosmodes paludosa.

Eight new species of the genus Gomphichis from Colombia are described. Each species is illustrated, and detailed habitat and distribution data are provided. A distribution map of the new species is presented. A dichotomous key for determination of the Gomphichis species in northern South America is provided. Conservation status assessments are provided for each species; current International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List categories and criteria are listed. A brief discussion of spiranthoid orchids taxonomy, conservation status of species, endemism in the Andes and paramo are presented.
