Description

A recently described, fairly distinctive species from the Codonoprasum section, evidently restricted to Mani peninsula in southern Greece, where it inhabits rocky outcrops of seaside slopes.

The flowers are milky white, cup-shaped and about 5 mm long, with slightly protruding anthers. They are arranged in a diffuse umbel. The plant is a fairly dwarf one which seldom attains much over 10 cm in height. Certainly it needs a long and dry summer rest. As this has naturally very small bulbs, I think that it is better appreciated when it is pot-grown and perhaps by an Allium-enthusiast more than the than general public.

To our knowledge this has never been offered anywhere else before.

Introduced to our lists July 2015.
