A higly desirable, tall conifer to 30 m high with a columnar habit and small, scale-like leaves to 1 cm long with inward curving tips. Araucaria biramulata is widespread but uncommon over much of the main island of New Caledonia but most often seen in the South at low and moderate elevations to 1000 m. Like most Araucaria, it adapts readily to cultivation in tropical and warm temperate climates but is grown in only very few collections and botanical gardens.
