Begonia melanobullata / From Bayou Begonia: Rhizomatous species native to a mountainous area in North Vietnam, described and publicized in 2015 by C.I. Peng and C.W. Lin. Compared to a similar species from Southwest China called ferox but displays its bullae (dark cones bristled at the tip with a hair) at a younger age and retains the hairs (ferox drops them). Also called “Chocolate Chip”! This lime-loving cliff dweller needs constant humidity and probably will only succeed in a terrarium.
