Maya Palm (Gaussia maya)

Maya Palm (Gaussia maya) is native to Belize, Guatemala and south-east Mexico. It grows to 5m-20m tall. The stems are grey, 10cm to 15cm (sometimes 30cm) in diameter. It has 6-8 pinnately compound arching leaves 2.5m-3m long. Its most notable feature is its flowering habit, which can result in up to a dozen inflorescences being on a plant at any one time.
