Masdevallia prodigiosa care and culture

Masdevallia prodigiosa is found in cloudforests at elevations of 2000 meters of Peru. It was first collected in 1978 by Königer. Once relatively common in the orchid-rich forests between Chachapoyas and Pomacochas and Pomacochas and Moyobamba in northern Peru, at elevations around 2000 m, the severe deforestation of this region threatens the native habitat of this and other orchid species, as well as other plant and animal species endemic to the area.
