Common Name The Yellow Promenaea

Flower Size about 2" [5 cm]

A small sized, cold to warm growing, epiphytic plant from southern Brazil at elevations up to 1700 meters in sheltered montane forests that has oval, compressed, 4-cornered, 1" [2.5 cm] pseudobulbs with 2 apical, oblanceolate, 3" [7.5 cm] leaves. They have a basal, lateral to pendant, 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, inflorescence that bears 1-2 long lasting, fragrant, waxy flowers held close to the leaf base, occuring in the spring and summer. They can be raised in a basket with a fast draining medium and should have ample water while in growth, after maturation they should be given a short 3 week rest and then less water until after the new growths are 1/2" long.
