Found in the western Himalayas, eastern Himalayas, Assam, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam on rock faces and on cliff edges in cool mixed forests at elevations of 457 to 2300 meters as a miniature to medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with slender to swollen pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, oblong to linear-oblong, acute to acuminate, plicate, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on a synanthous, densely many flowered, narrowly wiry, 4" to 12" [10 to 30 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with ovate-sagitate, acute to obtuse, pubescent floral bracts and carrying fragrant, membraneous flowers
