Common Name The Beautiful Phaius
Flower Size 1 1/2" [3.75 cm]
found in Madagascar in shady, humid forests at altitudes of 800 to 2000 meters as a cool to warm growing terrestrial with a Branched, glabrous rhizome giving rise to pesudobulbs enveloped by 2 to 4 sheaths carrying 2 to 3, elliptic-lanceolate, long acuminate, 3 to 5 main nerved, gradually narrowing below into the ribbed, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a 2 to 4' [60 to 120 cm] long, basal 1 to 12 flowered inflorescence arising as the pseudobulbs mature and with basally narrow, dilated above, long-attenuate apically, very acute persistent, many veined floral bracts.
