Description
A beauty native to the forests of northern California. The seven-centimetre flower umbel consists of star-shaped flowers that range in colour from white to lavender-pink. On the underside of the elliptical flower petals are purple markings that frame the pale gynoecium as a ring. As the flowers age, they become papery and retain their colour. This is where the local name 'Papery Onion' will come from. The leaves are slender and flat, two or three in total.
