DINAH GLOVER’s Post

Am I losing touch or is it that we have a new generation of entitled youth who do not know the need for sacrifice, being truthful, dedicated and committed to work?

😂. Methinks, it is also a situation, where they have seen our forbears across all sectors, sports, entertainment, engineering, all professions, etc make huge sacrifices and yet ended up being paupers or worse, and therefore they must be smarter. The situation is a bit exacerbated by the emphasis of money and therefore greed, and less barter trading, which emphasized reciprocity, than selfishness. We can’t ignore the influence of the internet either, which highlights speed.

Interesting observation DINAH GLOVER. To add to Edem Tetteh-Kubi's point, we, the older generation, have to take some of the blame for this mindset. Many parents are not raising their children to value the need for sacrifice. Instead, parents raise their children using rewards to persuade them to do stuff. I am not surprised that, as young adults now, they feel entitled and not willing to sacrifice.

It is wiser not to fall at where your predecessor fell, you need to be proactive. If your predecessor sacrificed and end up not leaving inheritance for the future generations, then you don't want to be like them. On the other hand when the youth realise the leaders are making fool of them, then they begin to think smarter.

I think everyone is in a hurry to make it. No need sacrificing and working hard...its a quid pro quo world now...
