Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are enhanced remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, which were the first two Pokemon games released on the Game Boy Advance back in 2003.
Although the original Ruby and Sapphire can transfer Pokemon one way from generation 3 to generation 6, it used an older battling system that was abandoned once generation 4 made its debut. This changed all moves to Physical, Special, and Status throughout all Types. In generations 1-3, each type was either Physical or Special based solely on the element.
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire keep the story and game as true to the original while updating it for the newest generation of Pokemon on the 3DS. A new story episode has also been added to the games called the Delta Episode, and introduces a new set of characters. See the Version Differences page for more details on upgrades and alterations.
