Well, it never fails to have a few unnamed plants. Sometimes we can’t help ourselves when we are plant shopping and find a plant we can live without even though it isn’t labeled. I suppose “normal” people buy plants that aren’t labeled with no problem and think nothing of it. But for me, I like labeled plants so I can put them on the blog without having to do a lot of research or post them on a facebook group for ID.
Sometimes I am given plants by others that aren’t labeled. A lot of times, they were also given their start by someone else. One of my neighbors in Mississippi gave me the unnamed Begonia in the above photo on May 31, 2012.

It was a beautiful plant for sure and really took off.

It made it through the winter in the basement but most of its leaves fell off. One day I went out to the plant table and something had broken most of its stems off…

I am not sure what happened to this plant. Maybe it didn’t survive the following winter.

This Begonia is a big mystery. I have no idea when I brought it home or from where. It probably came from Wagler’s Greenhouse.

This one has very thick dark green leaves.

It survived its second winter in the basement with the other three Begonias with flying colors. This Begonia is a slow grower compared to the other Begonias.

I am pretty sure the Unnamed Begonia #3 came from Wagler’s Greenhouse in 2016. It did very well over the summer but I am not sure what happened after that. Stange, I only have one photo… It is, or was, a very nice Angel Wing Begonia.
Figuring out the cultivar name of Begonias ss not easy. There are over 10,000 registered Begonia cultivars. Named or not, Begonias are one of my favorite genera of plants. I am sure I will be given other unnamed Begonias in the future.
Begonias are very easy to grow if you follow a few basic rules. Some of the links below give you some tips. There is a lot of information online about growing Begonias and there are other links on my other Begonia pages. There are MANY types and cultivars available online and at garden centers.
