What is a musclewood tree? Also called a hornbeam, this hardwood tree belongs to the genus Carpinus--and to the Eastern United States. Thanks to its native credentials, Wisconsin Red Musclewood has excellent disease resistance, hardiness, and growth, plus it attracts native bees and birds. However, excellent breeding has given this hornbeam tree a delightful fall coat of colors. Reds, yellows, and bright oranges shine in autumn and fall to reveal smooth gray bark.
