  • Description: Tuberous herbs. Leaves few, radical, erect; lamina, oblong-lanceolate. Inflorescence appearing before the leaves, shortly peduncled. Flowers purple or white, fragrant. Fruiting not common.

  • Parts used: Tubers
  • Properties & Uses: Acrid, thermogenic, aromatic, stomachic and anti-inflammatory. Powdered tuber externally applied to heal fresh cuts and wounds. It taken internally to removes coagulated blood or purulent matter from the body. Powder of the tubers is used to cure mumps. Rhizomes are useful in reduce swellings. Paste of the tuber is given in scabies.
