Aloe longistyla
This dwarf Aloe has a fairly large area of occurrence in southern South Africa, but it is not the easiest plant to grow, needing very good drainage to keep from rotting. It is also very susceptible to pests like mealy bugs and Aloe mites. But it is a true delight, with its large flowers seeming entirely too big for the little plant that produced them. Its name refers to the very long styles that extend well beyond the tube of the flower.
