Superficially similar to Kentucky bluegrass, but the Canada bluegrass stem is flattened (try rolling it between your fingers) whereas the Kentucky bluegrass stem is round. Also cottony hairs at the base of the lemmas of Canada bluegrass are sparse or absent, whereas they are plentiful and obvious in Kentucky bluegrass. All Poas have ends of leaves shaped like the hull of a boat.
