Rose verbena's fragrant flowers can be found blooming off and on throughout the year from March through November. They attract bees, butterflies, and the occasional hummingbird. This plant may be a good candidate for use in hanging baskets. It is very drought tolerant, and too much moisture can cause its roots to rot. Because of its low, sprawling habit and ability to form roots where stem nodes make good soil contact, rose verbena makes a great groundcover in dry, sunny situations. While it is a perennial, it can be short-lived, especially in colder regions.

Seed: Fresh seed sown in June or July will usually germinate within 20 days if kept moist and more will germinate the following spring. Sow outdoors by February or stratify at least 4 weeks. Seems to lose viability after about a year of dry storage at room temperature.
