Abstract
Ponerorchis is a genus of about 20 cool-growing, terrestrial species generally occurring on grassy slopes of mountains from Himalaya to Myanmar, eastern and central China to Korea and Japan. China has 14 species, 11 endemic. Plants are small to medium size, with fleshy tubers, erect, terete stems which are protected by sheaths and one to five leaves that also sheathed the stems. Inflorescence is terminal bearing single to many small to medium size, resupinate flowers (Chen et al. 2009).
