  • Key identification features : A deciduous tree with branchlets being fulvous-tomentose. Leaves are simple, elliptic or oblong. Male flowers in short cymes; female solitary. Calyx 4-5 lobed and cordate with lateral wings in female flowers. Corolla white. Bark grey, cracked into irregular scales.

  • Comments : On hills up to 1100 m, in open dry deciduous forests. Leaves are highly valued and used for rolling beedies (local cigarettes).
