      Habit

      Deciduous trees, up to m tall.

      Trunk\bark

      Bark brownish grey, smooth; blaze greenish.

      Branchlets

      Young branchlets angular to subterete, glabrous.

      Leaves

      Leaves simple, alternate, distichous; stipule lateral, persistent; petiole ca. 0.1 cm long, glabrous; lamina 1-1.5 x 0.3-0.5 cm, oblong, apex obtuse with mucronate tip, base asymmetric and truncate, margin thick and revolute, coriaceous, glaucous beneath, glabrous; midrib flat above; secondary nerves 6-8 pairs; tertiary nerves brodly reticulate or obscure.

      Inflorescence axillary cymes or solitary; flowers unisexual, whitish.

      Fruit& seed

      Capsule, smooth, trilocular, obovoid, purplish black; seeds 6.

        Shrubs, up to 3 m high; branches terete, woody, branchlets at base sometimes puberulous. Leaves 1.4 x 0.35 cm, linear-oblong, obtuse at base and at apex, apiculate, entire at margin, subsessile; lateral nerves 6-8 pairs, faint; stipules lanceolate, minute. Male flowers; at proximal axils, glomerulate; pedicels ca 2 mm long, filiform; calyx 6-lobed; lobes oblong-obtuse, ca. 1.8 x 0.7 mm, free, greenish-white; disk 6-glandular, glands globose, margin crenulate; stamens united in a column, filaments connate, 1.5 mm long; anthers oblong, longitudinally dehiscent. Female flowers: at distal axils, solitary; pedicels to 2.5 mm long; calyx 6-lobed; lobes oblong-obtuse, ca. 3.5 x1.5mm; disk annular, crenulate; ovary ca. 2 mm; styles 3, basally connate, above free, 1-2 mm long, each bifid at apex and reflexed. Capsules ca 5 mm; seeds trigonous, ca. 3 x 1.5 mm, minutely tuberculate.
