Hoya elliptica
About Hoya elliptica
With over 500 species and even more cultivars, there's a Hoya out there for everyone! They're native to Southeast Asia and their common name, waxplant, refers to their thick, waxy leaves which help them retain water in the heat. They're excellent climbers and will take off if you give them a trellis to grow on. Their other-worldly, star-shaped flowers are often fragrant and come in brilliant shades of red, pink, yellow, and more!

Finding light for Hoya elliptica in your home
Hoya elliptica may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Hoya elliptica in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Hoya elliptica
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Hoya elliptica after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Hubby took me plant shopping today and I got three new Hoyas I’m so excited for them :) #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads happy mommas day to all you beautiful mommas here

Bud blast is sad, but it’s okay! I was so surprised the first thing the cutting tried to grow was a peduncle. 😅 What a silly plant. I was putting off transferring it to pon while I patiently waited for it to do its thing.. now I can finally get on with my planned plant chores. Next time when you’re little older little elliptica🤞how about we grow some new foliage first. #Hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads

Succulent and hoya ID Hi everyone. I was in the garden center yesterday to pick up perlite and when I emerged, somehow I found those in my bag. 🤔 If you happen to know the idea of any one of those three, I would be thankful for your help. Also, as someone who never had any succulents any advice about care would be appreciated as well. #plantaddict #succulentsquad #hoya #plantID

I wasn’t expecting this one to bloom this year! It shot out some peduncles last year but they weren’t looking amazing and I got a nice surprise! I love the little fuzzies on the flowers 🥰 #Hoya #HoyaHeads #PlantAddict #FloweringPlants #HappyPlants

does this hoya have another chance at life? Hiya. I got this hoya callistophylla around three weeks ago, repotted it, and watered it about a week ago, which would be around two weeks since its last watering at the shop I got it from. It’s lost two leaves and the third looks like it’s on its way out, I can only assume due to a drastic change in environment, i.e. temperature and humidity. Anyways, my question is, does it seem that this hoya still has a chance to grow back? It’s got a large cluster of nodes (pictured) and I wonder if with proper watering it could come back. Tia! #StruggleBus #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #Hoya #PlantGraveyard (maybe lol)

Help! I went out of town for a few weeks and left my plants in husband care, and this #hoya is looking really rough! He liked it here before and even had new baby leaves. Not sure what's going on now or how to proceed to save him. #HoyaHangout #Hoya

It’s been a bit since I posted but, just wanted to share a new #hoya bloom! This one has been a real challenge for me, so many of them blasted, but I finally got a few to open up. I think Hoya elliptica likes a cooler environment, which I can’t really give it so, so it’s a reward this one finally made it all the way to opening! #HoyaHangout #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #NewGrowth #HappyPlants
