and we are not fooling.... Smiling
we came from here

The thread "Our Orchid blooms in March 2017" in Orchids forum

After a mild Winter we had a very chilly March here in NJ! Hopefully we see some warmth and sunshine soon!!
But, our Orchid forum showed lovely posts and discussions throughout the month which was great!
I am starting the new month with some assortment of blooms, the first one is the miniature Pleurothallis or now Specklinia brighamii, the whole plant fits into the palm of my hand.

The next one is Trichoglottis rosea var. breviracema, which always blooms this time of year for me. This is a charming sprawler/probably a climber in nature with clusters of small, ca 1 cm blooms.

and the plant "in-situ"

And as comparison of sorts the cute little Trichoglottis acutifolia again, this plant always shows some blooms, but seems to have a major blooming time now.
I was taking several pictures of the blooms as I always do and I realized that the only things missing in the first single bloom is a lawnchair and the accompanying umbrella drink!!!πŸΉπŸ– So tiny, but certainly shows moving little feelers!! He/she is not so happy any longer....

Another miniature is the Restrepia landsbergii, throwing out some pretty blooms here and there.

And Vanda Peddler's Velvet Gold is at it again

Please all join in and post away!!

Thanks Lindsey! Steady fingers and proper breathing? Smiling

I love the Crystelle Smith! I managed to kill one some years ago, I always liked that plant.

If it takes steady fingers, I can forget about it. Sad

I retired 10 years ago, but steady hands was definitely a major factor in my job! I am the one on the left looking into the microscope at crystals I grew. ( size of crystals usually less than .5 mm) They took pictures and little did I know that I would wind up on a flag at the company's main strip. Smiling Unfortunately I don't have the full size picture.

How cool is that?
and what a nice intro to a question I got at dinner last night with one of my orchid club friends..
she showed me this pot that had been sitting in her garage and was going to toss it out , but I'm sure bleach will kill it...any ideas of what this is that is growing on the pot?

Good morning! My beauties are also blooming both inside my lanai and mounted beneath my Phoenix robellini cluster.
I'm just a lover of orchids and I'm wowed by the variety of interesting blooms. I'll try to share some here with you! Please note I'm just learning this site so tagging is frustrating on my phone.

Gilgomez and Lindsey, beautiful show!! Lovey dubby I think I need to move to Florida? Smiling
Lindsey, looking at this white stuff on that pot from here without huge resolution, my first guess would be salt deposits.

Ursula, you don't have to move here.. ( we understand with the grandkids and all..) but you REALLY should schedule a visit.. at least a day or two in the Sarasota area and a day or two in the Tampa area.. come to the Redlands Orchid show in May and spend a few days in the Homestead area, down near Miami. In fact , I might suggest you fly to Miami rent a car.. shop along the way , I'll pack your plants and you fly home from Tampa.
My friend and I both thought those were salts.. but didn't realize that salt 'grew'!

Gilgomez, Welcome! to our little slice of heaven!
Your plants are beautiful and look quite happy... I'm jealous , as I can only grow Phal's as house plants.. they die a slow painful death when I grow them outside on my bench.
Good growing!

Wonderful pictures everyone. Such pretty blooms. I am so glad to be home from my grandma trip, although of course I'll miss the little ones. Hope to have a few new blooms to post tomorrow.
