Family: Rubiaceae. Distribution: Common in dry deciduous forests. Vernacular name: Telugu: NiruKadamba. Large deciduous tree. Branchlets terete. Stipules large, cauducous. Leaves obtuse, variable in size. Flowers white, fragrant, crowded in to globose haeads , heads peduncled, solitary or panicled. Bracts 2 on the peduncle. Caly tube 5 partite, truncate, Corolla tube upto 1cm, 5 loed, Stamens 5 on the thrat of the corolla tube. Ovary 2 celled. Fruit a globose head of cpsules. Photographed at Eastern ghats. |
