Common Name or Meaning The Abbreviated Pleurothallis

Flower Size 1/8" [3 mm]

Found in Chiapas state of Mexico, Alta Verapaz department of Guatemala, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia in very wet montane cloud forests at elevations of 1100 to 2800 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with a short ramicaul enveloped basally by 2 to 3 close, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, ovate, acute leaf that gradually narrows basally into the elongate petiole that blooms in the summer and fall on a fractiflex, 1.28" [3.2 cm] long, successively single, several flowered, inflorescence with minutely verrucose, just shorter than the pedicel and longer than the ovary floral bracts.

"Distinguished by the densely and successively flowered raceme that eventually surpasses the leaf about twice its length. The sepals are obtuse, the laterals being connate into a synsepal. The petals are broad and sharply long-acuminate. Mast distinguishing are the two longitudinal calli on the lip that protrude at the apex as two lobes." Luer 2006
