Common Name or Meaning The High Mountain Odontoglossum
Flower Size 3" [7.5 cm]
Found in Colombia and Venezuela in middle to upper cloud forests at elevations around 2000 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with ovate, laterally compressed, ancipitous, slightly longitudinally furrowed pseudobulbs that taper apically and basally and are enveloped by 6 to 7, disitchous, uppermost leaf-bearing sheaths and carry 1 to 2, erect to spreading, acute, lanceolate, conduplicate below into the long, narrow, petiole-like base leaves that blooms in the winter and spring on an axillary, arising on a newly matured pseudobulb, to 16" [40 cm] long, arching to pendulous, to 10 flowered inflorescence with appresssed, scale-like much shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying large showy, stellate flowers.
