Common Name or Meaning The Glorious Odontoglossum

Flower Size 2.8" [7 cm]

Found in Colombian cloud forests in bright areas of Cundinamarca, Boyaca, Santander and Norte de Santander at elevations around 2000 to 2800 meters as a medium sized, cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial with narrowly ovate, laterally complanate, rugose and longitudinally grooved pseudobulbs taper apically to a narrow apex and are peartially enveloped by several pairs of imbricating, distichous, leafless below and leaf-bearing above sheaths and carrying 2, apical, lanceolate, acute, conduplicate below to form a petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring and summer on an axillary, to 12" [to 30 cm] long, erect, sometimes few branching, many flowered inflorescence with up to 35, strongly fragrant flowers.
