The native range of this species is Hainan, Indo-China to Peninsula Malaysia (Langkawi Islands). It is a shrub or tree and grows primarly in the wet tropical biome(s).

Sim rừng, Sim rú, Trâm sết, Sim ba gân

Latin name: 

Rhodamnia dumentorum (Poir.) Merr. et Perry – Myrtus dumentorum Poir.

Family: 

Myrtaceae

Uses: 

Abdominal pain diarrhea (the whole tree is decoction). Wash wounds, sores (including cooked plants). In India, a decoction of leaves is used as a tonic for women who have just given birth and have stomachaches.

Distribution:

In Vietnam: Quang Nam, Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang. The tree grows naturally in secondary forests.

Flowering and fruiting season: 

May V-VI; July-August
