Common Name The High Elevation Bulbophyllum

Flower Size .4" [1 cm] wide - 1.4" [3.5 cm] long

Found in New Guinea among moss in thickets at elevations around 3200 meters as a mini-miniature sized each growth, just small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a creeping rhizome with .4 to 1" {1 to 2.5 cm] between each ovoid, hardly flattened pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, elliptic, acute apically, shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a single, penduncle 4 to 6.4" [10 to 16 cm] long, with 4 to 5 bracts, 5.4 to 8.8" [13.5 to 22 cm] long overall, single flowered inflorescence with tubular, acute apically floral bracts and carrying moderately opening flowers with pale purple sepals with darker veins or entirely dark purple and a purple lip with or without a yellow apex.
