이명 : 물수선화
잎은 뿌리에서 모여나며 긴 잎자루가 있으며 밑부분이 잎집처럼된다. 질경이택사와 갊은 잎을 가졌으며, 광택이 있다. 타원형으로 잎끝은 뾰족하고 잎밑은 세모진 심장모양이다. 뚜렷한 세로맥이 6~8개 있으며 가장자리는 밋밋하다. 꽃은 6~8월에 흰색으로 피며 길게 나온 꽃줄기의 마디마디에서 핀다. 마다마다 10여개의 봉우리가 있으며 한번에 피지 않고 순차적으로 피고 진다. 꽃줄기는 단단하며 세로로 모가 나 있고 꽃받침은 녹색이며 3개로 끝이 둥글고 세로맥이 있다. 화피갈래조각은 3개이며 수술은 많고 꽃밥은 노란색이다. 열매는 둥글고 꽃받침에 싸여 있다.
이용
관상용으로 심는다.
