Philips Hue Festavia Smart 500 Multicolour LED Indoor/Outdoor Light String

These lights are on one plug with a 2metre lead to the first bulb. The string lights are 'split' into two halves via a Y string junction, one for A and the other for B. If using them on a tree, both halves start in the middle the tree, with the A string working upwards and the B string downwards, in order to achieve the full effects of the lighting effects options.

There's a small gap between each LED, meaning the light is distributed nicely and they don't get stuck together easily.

I used them on a 7foot Christmas tree. They are impressive with so many different features, effects and colours - I'm still working my way through them. If you needed more lights there is no option to add to them, you would have to either spread the lights out a little more or buy another unit.

The app with all the features is easy to download and the 'bridge' accessory works so that you can remotely use the features much like a Hive type app. That too was very easy to set up.

The lights work with Spotify so that you can link the effects to music. They also work with Google Home, Apple Home and are compatible with Alexa.

These are beautiful lights and the photos (taken on my mobile) don't do the lights justice. After Christmas they will be going outside once I run an external socket near to where I want them placed. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family wanting a quality, elegant product to use indoors and outdoors.

I already have a few Philips Hue lights therefore I am familiar with the great quality and simple set up process. I wanted to use the lights outdoors, but they are also suitable for indoor use. Connecting these lights was really simple using the step by step instructions. I have the Philips Hue Bridge which allows me to control these lights, as well as other Hue products. I can control them all via the Philips Hue App on my mobile phone or using voice commands via Amazon Alexa. They also work with other systems such as Google Assistant.

The colour options are vast and they can be personalised with different effects. I spent a lot of time playing around with the options and colours to decide which ones I liked the most!

I currently have them in the back garden hanging over the patio which looks amazing and is great to add more light to the garden. I will use them on the front of the house for a more traditional look over the winter months and the colour variations are great for Christmas! The brightness can be adjusted depending on preference, I like them to be bright to give a greater impact. I can create a gradient of changing colours along the entire string, use one colour to create a more traditional look or have them multicoloured.

The 40m length gives a lot of versatility. The plug is in the middle with two separate 20m lengths of lights. The lights were easier than I expected to gather for storage, with a handy velcro strap to wrap around each bundle.

Another versatile and high quality product from the Philips Hue range. I've had a lot of compliments on them and I'd highly recommend these lights to my family and friends.

Philips Hue products are very high spec and superb quality, these lights are so adaptable we will be using them all year round and not just at Christmas so the price feels justified. In my videos attached to this review you will be able to see that you can create an infinite set of patterns and colours on your Christmas Tree. The app is easy to use and very intuitive, also it been around for years and the Hue system is everywhere- so I'm much happier it will remain supported via other cheaper brands. I show the 500 light set on a 7 foot tree, I think there would be enough to work on a tree up to 9 foot.

You can create flashing effects , turn your tree any colour , make it a rainbow , twinkle along music by linking to Spotify ... make it dim in the evenings , set up rules for the lights to be on when you get home - just so flexible ! You could change the main colours to match any tree decorations theme.

This set can also be used outdoors , I'll add another review in the summer when I set them up under the sail shades in the garden. Since getting these to review I've bought 4 more Hue lights for the living room, changing the way we use the room , mainly creating a much more relaxing environment in the evening . So impressed with these, I'm hooked !

Having already owned a few Philips Hue products I was excited to see what the string lights would be like. As always straight out of the box Philips makes everything super straight forward and easy, as long as you've got the hue bridge then all you need to do is plug the lights in and search for them on the Hue app, they'll then pair, update the firmware and you're good to go.
These lights are really long, I made the mistake of undoing them and moving to another room and they became tangled quickly so take care when putting them up, but once that was sorted the length makes for a really versatile decoration. At the moment I have them around my fireplace but will look lovely on the tree at Christmas. There's so many different settings to choose from they easily set the tone, and they can be placed outside too which will be really great in the summer.
The lights are separated into two strands that join at the middle to connect to the plug, worth noting as I expected them to be one long string. Overall I'd say they're a great purchase for anyone with other Philips hue products as they link up so nicely to create an ambient surrounding. They're a bit higher than others in the market but the amount of options you have for things like a "candlelight setting" or "glistening setting" really set them apart.
