Making its debut in 1973 the Roland RE-201 Space Echo was THE space echo. Taken to heart by the likes of Pink Floyd and David Bowie, along with many reggae and dub outfits the tape delay unit gave the artist’s sound extra expression with plenty of chaos to boot. Now seen in the hands of Radiohead, Portishead and even Brian Setzer its time for an update to this classic. Roland and Boss have therefore created the Boss RE-20 Space Echo Delay, which itself has already been taken on by Ivor Novello award-winners, Massive Attack. Every care has been taken to keep the unit as close to the original as possible with every sonic detail and nuance accounted for. The Boss RE-20 Space Echo Delay Guitar Effects Pedal gives you the same atmospheric, space-filling, analog tone echo of the original. Although it utilises modern technology the Boss RE-20 also gives an accurate recreation of the RE-201’s tape flutter and magnetic head sound saturation, for that retro feel. The Mode Selector knob is still intact with its 12 placements. With its twin pedal design you gain extra control of the units abilities with the expression pedal giving you hands-free control of parameters such as Repeat Rate & Intensity. A tap input pedal gives you the ability to set the delay time by foot. The Boss RE20 Space Echo Delay can also have the delay set to a longer duration than the RE201 was capable of.
