Abstract

本発明の液晶表示装置10は、一対のガラス基板31,41の間に液晶層50を設けてなる液晶パネル11と、当該液晶パネル11に照明光を供給する照明装置12と、を含む液晶表示装置であって、前記一対のガラス基板31,41のうち少なくとも一方のガラス基板31には、輝点欠陥の原因となる輝点欠陥発生部Xを遮光可能な位置に、当該ガラス基板31の内部に形成された空隙部61と、前記空隙部61から当該ガラス基板31の前記液晶層50とは反対側の表面に貫通する貫通部62とから構成される外部連通空隙部63が設けられ、当該外部連通空隙部63内に遮光層60が形成されていることを特徴とする。
