Abstract

A case for cellular phones, alias a cellular-case, is provided with an inner compartment or pocket for containing a spare battery. The pocket is divided from the case by a strap or band of elastic material to hold the battery in situ so that it is kept adjacent to the front side of the case, and the user can as usual take the phone out of the case without any problem.

Description

Case for cellular phone containing a spare battery
The present invention relates to an universal case for cellular phones, alias a cellular-case, characterized in that it can also receive a spare battery for the phone in a suitable compartment or pocket. With such solution the user can have a double as long operating time as under normal conditions without significantly increasing the overall dimensions of the case over those of the commer¬ cially available cases.
It is known that also in the cellular phones of the last productions the operating time is still limited by the short duration of the battery. In order to overcome such problem at least a spare battery is used together with a battery charger which provides for recharging the ex- hausted battery. In order to avoid that a phone is sud¬ denly switched off, one should always better have a charged spare battery. Such precautions, however, are dis¬ regarded by many people either because of inadvertence or because most times there is no available room where one can locate it.
The present invention seeks to solve such problem by pro¬ viding the cellular-case with a suitable compartment or pocket where one can snugly locate a spare battery so that the user may carry such accessory whenever he takes his cellular-phone case.
According to a preferred embodiment of the present inven¬ tion the compartment or pocket, where the battery is lo¬ cated, is formed behind one front side of the case, and the battery is placed parallel to the rear side of the phone, thus producing only a little increase of the thick¬ ness of the case.
The present invention will be described more in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the invention, in which the front side is partially broken away for showing a bat¬ tery when the cellular phone is removed;
Fig. 2 is a side, partially sectioned elevation view of the case with the spare battery and the cellular phone in the removed position.
With reference to the Figures, the invention consists of a case for cellular phone which is formed of a U-shaped strap 4 of leather or the like closed at both sides by a couple of straps 6 of elastic material and carrying at the rear side a bracket 8 preferably coated by leather or the like which is so shaped as to be slightly spaced from the rear side of the case in order to hook the case to the belt of the trousers. At its free end the bracket 8 car¬ ries a male button 10 which is snap-locked into a corre¬ sponding female button carried by the case. According to the invention the inner volume of the case is divided into two separate compartments by a strap or par- tition 14 which is parallel to the rear side of the case: the first compartment having very low dimensions is in¬ tended to receive a spare battery 20, the second compart¬ ment receives the cellular phone 22. The strap or parti¬ tion 14 is preferably made of elastic material such as elasticized fabric or rubber capable of holding the bat¬ tery in situ and avoiding any casual displacement thereof. In the exemplifying illustrative embodiment the height of the strap is lower than that of the case because it is not necessary that the strap reaches the bottom of the case in order to secure the battery and to separate it from the cellular phone. The width of the strap is equal to that of the case because the spare battery has the same width as the phone. It is however apparent that the width of the pocket in which the battery is received may be reduced.
From the foregoing the comfortable use of this invention is self-evident: the usual way of taking the phone out of the case remains unchanged; the overall dimensions of the case are essentially the same (there is only a slight in¬ crease of thickness which does not cause any problem to the user carrying it at the belt) ; and the user has always a spare battery available.
