W/T/VEJS: FIG .4.
Sd giedfeul gwum (Q S '51 6 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 26, 1921.
Application filed November 1, 1920. Serial No. 420,864.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, Lower: K. Rns'rnm, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Games or Toys, of which the following is a specification.
The principal objects of the present invention are, first, to provide amusement, sport, exercise and training for the hand and e e in feats of agility and skill, and secon to provide a simple, comparatively inexpensive and safe toy which I may designate a stunt-stick by reason of the gymtions and movements of the toy and player.
To these and other ends, hereinafter set forth, the invention com rises a toy or ame apparatus consisting o a stick, sha t or wand equipped at each end with a rubber balll, or otherwise provided with resilient en s.
The invention will be claimed at the end hereof but will be first described in connection with the embodiment of it chosen for illustration in the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, and. in which igure 1, 1s a side view of apparatus embodying features of the invention.
Fig. 2, is a similar view, drawn to an enlarged scale, and partly in section and with parts of the stick or wand broken away.
Fig. 3, is a view, partly in section, of parts of the wand, and
Fig. 4, is a view, artly in section, of one of the end fittings s own in Fig. 1.
In the. drawin 1 is a shaft, wand or stick. It may we 1 be straight and made of wood and round in cross-section, but these matters are details and are mentioned only in aid of an understanding of the toy or game apparataus. The stick, shaft or wand is provided with resilient ends. Rubber balls 2, are an example of resilient ends and they are shown as provided with cavities 4, enlarged at their bottoms and adapted to receive pins 3, projecting from the ends of the stick and having enlarged heads. The ends of the stick at the bases of the pins are shown as cup-shaped at 5, to accommodate the spherical shape of the surface of the bases.
In use, the stunt-stick is tossed, dropped or thrown and one of its resilient ends striklng the floor, ground or pavement causes it to bounce, rebound or even turn end for end, while bouncing, and the player or players in catching it and again tossing it into action or play, take exercise, practice skill, and have enjoyment and pleasure.
It will be obvious to those skilled in the art to which the invention relates that modifications may be made in details of construction and arrangement without departing from the spirit of the invention which is not limited to those matters, or otherwise than as the appended claims and the prior art may require.
I claim:
1. A toy or game apparatus com rising the combination of a straight shaft aving at each end a headed pin and a cupped portion, and rubber balls having cavities conforming to and receiving the headed pins, substantially as described.
2. A toss and catch toy or game apparatus comprising the combination of a straight elongated shaft and resilient substantiall spherical elements arranged symmetricall y in respect to the axis of the shaft and mounted on the ends thereof to strike the ground when the toy is tossed to cause it to bound and even turn end for end.
