Here’s the Nintendo Switch next to the Wii U GamePad, a 3DS XL, a phone and more

While the Nintendo Switch is set to begin its North American tour, well, today, I guess, we got some hands-on time with the tablet/console hybrid this morning. And what better way to communicate its approximate shape and size than to take hastily assembled snapshots of it next to hardware we happened to conveniently have on hand for just such an occasion? Here’s a picture of the Switch next to the Wii U GamePad.

Okay, yes, our office GamePad is in great need of a microfiber cloth. Hearing you loud and clear on that front. But also, just look at how cheap and clunky the Wii U GamePad is. Sure, it’s been four years since it was released ... but it was always clunky and cheap-looking, no?

For anyone curious about how realistic it may be to imagine Nintendo replacing the 3DS lineup with the Switch, here it is alongside the New Nintendo 3DS XL and ... honestly, the Switch is not that different.

The PlayStation Vita was never the smallest handheld, and neither is the Switch. But if you managed to carve out space in your bag for the Vita, you should be able to accommodate the Switch.

We forgot to take a picture of the thing next to a phone ... duh. Luckily, Waypoint’s Austin Walker used our own Patrick Gill’s iPhone 6 to stage this shot next to a docked Switch. Thanks, Austin!
