What we know so far about the large fire at Nottingham train station

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was called at 6.25am to reports of a fire in the ladies toilet on a platform

Nottingham Station has been evacuated this morning and after a fire broke out in a toilet and spread to the roof of the building.

The station is expected to be closed for the rest of the day.

Crews are still on the scene and the station has been evacuated.

A spokesman for the Fire Services said firefighters are on site working to contain the fire to re-open the station.

The spokesman added: "This is a fully developed fire in the main concourse of the station - which has spread to the roof. Crews are currently working to stop the fire from spreading."

A British Transport Police spokesman said there are no reports of any injuries at the moment and the Fire Service said "all persons are accounted for at the scene and understood to be no injuries as it stands".

Passengers are being advised not to travel to Nottingham station this morning as trains will be unable to run.

A spokesman for Trentbarton said: “There is no services that will serve Carrington Street until the road re-opens. We have staff on site to assist customers, but please bear with us.”
