Wolves have broken their transfer record with the £13million permanent signing of Helder Costa.

Costa arrived at Molineux on a season-long loan move in August, joining from Benfica.

Now, after impressing in the Championship and attracting Premier League interest, the Portuguese winger, 23, has inked a four-and-a-half year deal.

Costa becomes the club’s record signing, smashing the record set by teammate Ivan Cavaleiro last summer, following his £7million signing.

Costa’s arrival takes the spending of the club’s owners, Fosun International, to £27million since they completed their takeover last summer.

The Angolan-born wideman has scored nine goals and laid on eight more in his 29 games in English football - including two assists in the 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup at the weekend.

He had initially hoped to return to Benfica in the summer and force his way into the club’s first-team plans, having spent last season on loan at French side Monaco.

But the Lisbon giants had made clear to the player that they saw his future elsewhere, allowing Wolves to step in.
