Didier Drogba has been warned he is not welcome back at Marseille.

The former Chelsea striker is without a club after leaving Montreal Impact at the end of last season.

He has been linked with a return to the Stade Velodrome, where he spent one season before moving to Stamford Bridge.

But during their 4-1 defeat to Monaco, Marseille fans made it clear they did not want Drogba back at the club.

A large banner was held up before kick-off, reading: 'Drogba, stop saying you love L'OM, you make in a month what we won't earn in a lifetime.

"Stop feeling sorry for yourself and go back to China."

Drogba was at Shanghai Shenhua between 2012 and 2013 and has been tipped to make a big-money return to the Chinese Super League, while Corinthians are also thought to be keen.

Speaking earlier this month, Drogba said: "There is an option to return to France, but I will no say more. I hope to be able to hold my promise one day [to return to Marseille]. It can be done.
