Borussia Dortmund are set to rival Manchester United for Ajax strike sensation Kasper Dolberg.

The 19-year-old is on United’s radar after a breakthrough season in Amsterdam which has brought 11 goals in 28 games and a first senior cap for Denmark.

Jose Mourinho has sent club representatives to Holland to check on the player’s progress, as have Premier League rivals Manchester City and Everton.

And a number of European clubs have done likewise too, including BVB.

While United are unlikely to move this month, Dortmund may press ahead with a move, with Thomas Tuchel’s side returning from their winter break without an available centre-forward.

Lead man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations and his long-term future remains in doubt with him refusing to commit to the club beyond the current season.

And his backup, Adrian Ramos, is leaving the Westfalenstadion for China in a £9.5million move, via a loan spell at Granada until the end of the current European season.

Asked about a potential move this month to replace Ramos, Tuchel responded: "If the opportunity arises, then yes. If not, everything is good.
