Manchester United players take shine off Europa League success with ill-timed anti-City dressing room chant

Rivals City had posted their congratulations to United on social media after their victory in Stockholm

Manchester United players sing chant aimed at Man City in dressing room

Manchester United took some of the shine off their Europa League victory, after a video emerged from their Stockholm dressing room on Wednesday night.

United beat Ajax 2-0 at the Friends Arena in comfortable fashion, thanks to goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Much of the lead up to the game had centred around a city united following Monday night’s terror attacks.

Indeed French star Pogba dedicated United’s win in Sweden to the 22 who had tragically lost their lives.

Manchester City posted their congratulations to their rivals on social media, while United players posed for a picture with a banner declaring “Manchester - A city united” after their victory.

However, another social media post soon emerged, with United’s team singing a celebratory song which included a disrespectful line about City.

The chant goes as follows: "U-N-I, T-E-D, United are the team for me, with a nick nack paddy wack give a dog a bone, why don't City f*** off home."

It was posted by Jesse Lingard but quickly removed from his Instagram account after a string backlash from disappointed supporters.
