Lancashire supporters looking forward to watching the Red Rose at Aigburth next month are in for a shock after the county launched a new bright green kit.

The move comes after online electricals retailer, AO.com announced it is to sponsor Lancashire’s Royal London One-Day Cup kit with the sure-to-be controversial kit showcased for the first time this Sunday against Sussex Sharks in Horsham.

While some fans may be dubious about the radical kit change, AO has insisted the colour could even help Lancashire to success on the pitch with noted psychologist Angela Wright promoting the calming qualities of the new shade.

She said: "The AO green is a strong, bright and warm colour. It is extremely powerful and should stand the team in good stead for the tournament. The colour is reassuring and the team will feel calm and balanced when wearing the kit. This will help them to focus and they will not lose their cool if the going gets tough."

Andrew Kirkcaldy, Group Brand Director at AO.com furthered these sentiments.

He said: “We’re thrilled to be involved in the new launch of LCCC’s Royal London One-Day Cup kit. We have worked hard to create a design for the new kit which we believe will win the approval of players and fans alike.

"The new kit has a vibrant and energetic look, which will hopefully see the Lancashire Lightning first team go from strength to strength in the Royal London One-Day Cup."
