Exeter bar Walkabout announce shock closure to make way for new pub

Exeter's Australian-themed bar Walkabout will be leaving the city centre for good this week to make way for a new pub, it has been revealed.

The bar which is located on Fore Street made the shock announcement on Facebook and will hold a Walkabout closing party this week to celebrate the 'end of an era'.

The closing party will be held over four days and will shut its doors for the final time on Sunday, October 15.

On Thursday, October 12, Walkabout will be holding a rock and metal night to start the weekend of closing parties, with on Tuesday night there being a party for the final Karaoke at Walkabout Exeter event.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday they will be holding a Halloween-themed weekend, which will include apple bobbing, vodka jelly shots, flour Smarties and fancy dress.

The sports bar, renowned for their themed nights served up a menu of burgers, sandwiches and wraps, as well as steak and chips and their all-day-breakfasts.

Walkabout, which is owned by the Stonegate Pub Company will be replaced by another one of their pubs, that they have called the Exonian.

It has not yet been confirmed as to when the new pub will open, although staff at Walkabout have said they believe it will be November 18 or what food they will serve, however they are currently advertising for staff.
