Annan Athletic manager Jim Chapman blasts officials after game at Elgin City ends in draw and a rammy

The visitors were 2-0 up midway through the second half but conceded a goal before a controversial late penalty call saw manager dismissed and the game boil over.

A brawl breaks out after the final whistle between Elgin City and Annan Athletic

Annan Athletic boss Jim Chapman blasted the referee after their trip to Elgin City ended in a mass brawl.

The visiting gaffer was sent to the stands in the final minutes of the game after Kevin Graham awarded the hosts a controversial late penalty which they converted for a final score of 2-2.

That cost Annan all three points and all but ended their title hopes.

And that was before a dangerous late tackle by Elgin City’s Mark Nicholson on Smart Osadolor sparked carnage which continued down the tunnel at the full-time whistle.

Matty Flynn was sent off during the rammy – which also saw an office window smashed inside the main stand at Borough Briggs.

Chapman’s fury was firstly directed at Elgin’s Dylan Easton who won the controversial penalty which the Annan boss thought was a dive.

The manager said: “I’m going to get done for saying this but it was never a penalty.

“He (Easton) has done exactly the same thing before and I told people it would happen. The ref cost us the game.
